The Citation VII is equipped with more powerful engines and a re-designed cabin to reduce ambient noise, and is able to fly faster and farther in a much more comfortable environment than the Citation III. Upgraded engines were utilized on the Citation VII, permitting operations at higher elevation and mountainous airports even during hot weather that would have prevented the Citation III from operating.
